Bob Fisher

I’m currently a Senior Lecturer in Educational Linguistics at the University of Northampton, with over 30 years’ experience in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Academic English teaching and testing. I am a highly qualified and experienced IELTS and Password Examiner.

 
I’ve worked with language students at centres across the world including China, Vietnam, Thailand and Spain. 

 
Back in the UK, I’ve taught at universities including Imperial College London, UCL and Brunel, and have held senior academic roles at universities including Middlesex and Northampton, leading undergraduate and postgraduate modules in English for Academic Purposes, English Language Teaching, Language Assessment and Intercultural Business Communication. I am also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

  • I grade your work against IELTS Writing key criteria – e.g. Task Achievement; Coherence & Cohesion; Lexical Resource; Grammatical Range & Accuracy.
  • Lessons focus on developing key areas, depending on your particular needs; e.g. text organisation, grammar and/or vocabulary, time-management strategies.
  • You submit your practice essay online directly to your tutor.
  • You receive line-by-line corrections, an estimated score, and actionable improvements.
  • No. I do not write or rewrite essays for you.
  • However, I provide detailed feedback, clear approaches and model answers to help you write independently.


Timelines & Results

  • The timeline depends on your starting point and personal study hours.
  • Moving up half a band may take anywhere between 40 and 50 hours of personal study and practice.
  • No. Official test outcomes depend entirely on your own exam performance.
  • However, I will equip you with the effective strategies and tools to maximize your potential.
